Have you seen these ads that say ‘’Learn how to sing in 30 days’’? Well, the truth is that the human voice doesn’t quite work like that.
Through my experience singing and teaching, I have learned that there are a lot of factors that contribute to adopting bad habits, and that you must dedicate, in some cases, a lot of time to retrain your body and your brain, through practice and processing new information. I know that past experiences, health issues, emotional and physical trauma and anxiety can feel like they affect our ability to sing, and even create actual physical trauma to the cords and larynx. In my classes you will learn how to notice your body, your breath, and your emotions, and adopt new, healthier techniques. You will practice on self love and patience, and you will try and find your true voice through a variety of mental and physical exercises.
What you will learn:
- Anatomy of the voice
- Diaphragmatic breathing
- Correct pronunciation of vowels and consonants
- Basic principles of Alexander technique
- Movement, and how to engage your body while singing
- Correct posture
- Range expansion
- Relaxation techniques
- Acting techniques
- Preparation for auditions and competitions
